Free up lost disk space caused by “kaspersky internet Security 2010” temporary (temp) files.
*Note*
Disconnect the internet connection and all the application before you follow the following steps.
Steps to be followed:
A] Disable self defense in settings options in Kaspersky 2010
] Open "Kaspersky" main console
2] Go to "Settings" on top right hand side positioned at the corner of the console
3] From the Left Panel bottom you will find "options" tab below the "My Update Center"
4] Click on the "option" tab
5] You will find out a new inline window named "Self Defense"
6] Remove the tick "Enable Self Defense"
7] Click "Apply" then "OK" it.
8] You will get a notification message at the right bottom corner or get yellow colored fix message in the main console
B] Now,
Go to the common app. location:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
Go to “Kaspersky Lab” folder

Cache
C] Now,
Go to Tools option in the menu bar
“Folder Options”
Go to “View” tab
You will find much checked and unchecked check boxes and radio buttons in the advanced settings.
You will find “Hidden files and folders” with a folder icon
By default it is set to “Do not show hidden files and folders”
But now check or select “show hidden files and folders”
Apply and Ok.
D] Now the hidden files of temp extension will be visible
Remember only to delete the files with temp extension in the cache folder files
Now delete it from recycle bin
E] Then again go to
“Folder Options” > Go to View tab > select “Do not show hidden files and folders”
Apply and Ok.
Re-enable self defense
……
Now check “My Computer” C drives or the drive where operating system is installed the hard disk space will increase.
It's a software developers fault.
When the "Kaspersky Internet Security 2010" updates or does any activity in the computer it leaves behind lots of temp files which gets stored as hidden files which can be at present only be deleted by following the certain steps manually.
