My pandemic strategies as a movie technician

1.Have a game plan.

2. Do not straight away get on the bandwagon but do give a reality check.

3. Learn new skills every day. We live in an age where all the information is freely available. Information is seconds away through few clicks of a button. Even if you can’t pay for the courses. Read the manuals, the related articles, watch the related tutorials that are freely available. Attend all the zoom lectures. Information sharing was never so democratic and organised.

4. Don’t hesitate to ask for help from peers & seniors.

5. Stop buying apps, content and gear that you don’t need.

6. Budget your future spending than writing down how you spent it.

7. Innovate before you become a dinosaur.

8. Pro tip – Do things you fear most. High risk services and businesses give higher returns.

9. Buy original licensed app. Do not use cracks. It is stealing even when it is not for work.

10. Have faith in yourself. Miracles do happen. Do not get stuck. Move on and come back later to it with experience.

How and why is Television the right medium of communication opportunity?

The technology is advancing day by day with a rapid growth. The technologies like 3g on cell phones platforms or the set boxes in form of DTH (Direct to home) or IPTV (Internet Protocol television) are reaching remote terrains which is now accessible, in form of television over such regions which plays a vital role in educating, informing and entertaining a wide population of audiences, who were hidden from the outer world for centuries through regional native languages channels.

Television

I think Television is a right and an effective medium of communication in today’s time because it has a larger impact on the masses as there are more Television sets than multi theatre screens across the developing countries such as India and across South East Asia.

Today television is being considered as the mouth piece of the people in democracy and it is playing a major part to build democracy around the world giving end to dictatorship of the Army rule or the kingship. The oppressed are rising in form of you tube by making their voice heard, loud and clear. This is what we saw on CNN for a decade ranging from various issues and in recent times the television and youtube was effectively used to inform the world the `happenings in Iran’.

The television is not anymore an exclusive, government enterprise, many media houses and private channels are being launched ranging from various categories. It’s no more about game shows, melodramas or news it’s beyond what we thought a few generations ago, the television is packaged with content from kid’s shows to fashion to 24x7 shopping network.

The viewers are spoilt for choice as the television is bursting out with new channels around the world to the homes. Some cultures believe that the television is invading their culture and influencing western beliefs and ideologies.

Today on a single press of a button with our finger tips on a remote. We can access many important live events without us being physically present on location in 3 dimensional screens in high definition format without any interruption because of efforts by prominent people like media czar Rupert Murdoch and Media mogul Ted Tuner (CNN) shaped today’s scenario that we couldn’t imagine could be possible ever.

This popularity of television have brought in brands to advertise and make the glued audience know their presence via sit-com (`serials’ in India) through commercial breaks to reach the particular target audience through television creating an illusion in the minds of the prospective consumer to sell a product. But again, the long lost Radio is gaining popularity once again. In recent times, in India in form of Fm, but still television is a medium which is not fading in time but improving instead, television has now the capability to play radio on television sets through digital decoders.

The explosion of such vast information through electronic medium i.e. Television should be controlled and censored before reaching the general mass audiences by independent community moderators of individuals on local basis than a national censorship authorities, so that whenever required the general public can give their residuals and grievances in an open forum without any bureaucratic red tape where there is a boom of regional channels in India just like the news channels few years back to explore and enter the new markets.

Television in India have come long way. The television which was a luxury item of the rich and elite has become household basic necessities of the people from urban to rural population. May be the Doordarshan’s programming transition from black and white to colour in the 1982 Asian games improved the Indian broadcasting scenario. Today it is again taking a new leap and lease of life by broadcasting High definition format; telecast Common Wealth 2010 games live from on our new lcd, led and plasma television flat screen set by `Prasharbarti’.

Television can not be destroyed by cinema nor can cinema be destroyed by television. They both will co-exist together for many years to come. We will still cherish the television golden moments, in the history and break new paths in years to come.

I won't be ever silenced by you

I am worried to speak or write coz every thing I speak is termed nonsense and irritable and we call this democracy such a big lie. Living according to certain social norms of morality is too fake. Its better to live under fear of dictatorship and uncertainty. At least the hopes and dreams and the aspirations are only silenced not killed.

Changing Times

I went to Goregaon today in the interiors of the days of my childhood before I moved out of the place long time back.

I feel sad that many things have changed in time restaurants like Ruchi has lost the menu of Medhu Vada, Shiv Shakti is now Cafe Day, outlet.

The classic gaming Arcade is now a pool table arena. The Popcorn and ice cream shop is now Fast food restaurant called the "Java".

Lots have changed.

This is the link were I uploaded the design :
http://twitpic.com/13dpfk

You can feedback me on:
http://twitter.com/utsabnov

Update:
In the more tab option I think we should have the Orkut Inbox [Message] and the Lists.

It will be also good if Google's orkut uses php codings with html to design web pages like facebook as web pages loads faster than Java.

Photo Albums and scarp counter bugs and error problem should be fixed.

Technoholik Orkut Community Voting :

Do you agree or disagree Google should concentrate more on making Orkut better than making Buzz?

Film making as a Career

Nowadays there is a media boom. Every alternate day, if you tune into your television you will not be surprised to find out a new news channel. Gone are the days of “Saas Bahu” family melodramas sagas which ruled our minds. It’s all about reality shows now. Such reality shows are giving young stars and strugglers a new platform to showcase there skills to masses all over the world.

The new technology and inventions in science have also let to creations films which are filled with mind blowing visual appeal and sound effects. Recently 3 dimensional movies like Avatar are one of the best examples which has been directed by James Cameron the veteran directors of movies like Terminator and Titanic. Right from the beginning actor/comedian/director and the founder of United Artist Charlie Chaplin have used many visual effects and techniques out of the box with their imaginative skills to make audiences laugh even though during his earlier times when the films didn’t have sound films were still made. Later on the sound came into being in the movies but still film makers like Charlie decided to make films in silent. When others started to make films with sound which was then been called “talking movies”.

Film making is not about having an expensive camera with film making degree and a big budget props and crew. The film making is an art of converting what you see around, to be converted into a vision, to be dreamed then to be conveyed the story to the masses.

Before making a film you should have a fire within you. You should first believe in your self in whatever you do. This applies in every field. If you are a sweeper you should have a mind set to be the best sweeper in world. The mantra is simple whatever you do believe in it. Don’t do what others do.Do what you like. Every individual has a unique talent you just need know it. Do not choose a career which is being enforced on you by others. Do what you like.

A recent phenomenon has been seen where many new college pass outs (10+2) are opting for new fields like film making as their career. Many new career opportunities have come in recent years like fashion designing, product designing, automobile designing, animation, journalism, bio mechanics, Nano-technology rather than traditional fields like doctors, lawyers, engineers, academics.

In these new fields too an individual is required to poses similar skill sets equivalent to traditional fields to succeed. So the work pressures are present here too. Talent and skills is just a small part of the hurdles. You also must have commercial “know how’s” to sell your ideas in the competitive market.

Many people have a misconception that this new careers are done by people who are poor in academics. But as the time passed many people are open to such new careers options. Yes it is a high paying salaried jobs but there are many hurdles and hardships which everyone has to face in their early careers. Now if someone when asks a media person “What do you do for a living?” the individual assumedly may reply “I am working in a media house” first thing the person who asked the question will reply by saying “Oh! Animation” without having the knowledge that there are different fields in media houses which could be video or sound editing, event management managers, creative writers who writes scripts for a ad films known as the “copy writers”, graphics designers, 3 D modelers or animators, Art directors for production (D.O.P- Director of Production), the cinetographers (Camera person) even web designers who design web pages and many such professions yet to be discovered which is still unknown to many.

Even the photographs that you click can lead you to jobs be it fashion photography for clothing line or you could be a photographer for movie banner and ads which could give you fame and steady income.

In today’s world there is also a boom in digital films shot from Digi-cams, Handy cams or even your hand held mobile phones in HD Film format which has apperception all around the world. Paranormal activity is an example of digital films. You may have heard about the films uploaded on you tube that has gone viral and films shot on mobile which is called Mobile film have won awards in film festivals and even earned millions.

There is too much demand for young professionals for films, ads, media houses of news channels, TV serials (Sit-coms) if you have the talent, skills and dream to do something big why not try film making course you may not be an actor but you will get the equal respect in the industry and feel the sense of achievement.

The audience may not recognize you. They may only recognize the actors, the directors and some extent the producers. But the only thing that matters is the final product. The audiences are lease bothered with your hard work and dedication goes on to the film making process. Just feel when someone criticizes a film like we all did to Aurang's "No Smoking” and RGV's Sholay remake "Aag". No filmmaker makes films to fail but just wonder what they feel when they fail. Whatever! The outcome may be. We should only remember that old success mantra “Failures is the Pillar of Success”. Talking about failures a question arises in my mind. How many names do you know of spot boys who take care of celebrities tantrums, bring water, hold there umbrella in the hot sun. Answer to the question is none. Yes! I know one of you knows the answer. But you must be from a production unit or you are a star. Good for you. But the truth is none of the junior actor’s, spot boys, drivers, technicians and others are house hold names. But still they are the back bone of a film industry.

Please do read my articles which I wrote for my college magazine.
