Thumbnail image not generated for Video files in Windows XP Solution

Thumbnail image not generated for Video files in Windows XP?
Symptom

When you click on a video file, the thumbnail image may not be generated in the Common Tasks pane.
Cause

This happens if the thumbnail handler registration is missing in the system, or if the file association settings are incorrect.
Resolution

To resolve the problem, type the following command in Start, Run dialog:

REGSVR32 SHMEDIA.DLL

Thumbnail images for videos should now generate correctly. If that does not help, inspect the file association settings.
