Google introduces Google Fast filp news protal
One problem with reading news online today is that browsing can be really slow. A media-rich page loads dozens of files and can take as much as 10 seconds to load over broadband, which can be frustrating. What we need instead is a way to flip through articles really fast without unnatural delays, just as we can in print. The flow should feel seamless and let you rapidly flip forward to the content you like, without the constant wait for things to load. Imagine taking 10 seconds to turn the page of a print magazine!
Fast Flip is a new reading experience that combines the best elements of print and online articles. Like a
print magazine, Fast Flip lets you browse sequentially through bundles of recent news, headlines and popular topics, as well as feeds from individual top publishers. As the name suggests, flipping through content is very fast, so you can quickly look through a lot of pages until you find something interesting. At the same time, we provide aggregation and search over many top newspapers and magazines, and the ability to share content with your friends and community. Fast Flip also personalizes the experience for you, by taking cues from selections you make to show you more content from sources, topics and journalists that you seem to like. In short, you get fast browsing, natural magazine-style navigation, recommendations from friends and other members of the community and a selection of content that is serendipitous and personalized.
To build Google Fast Flip,Google partnered with three dozen top publishers, including the New York Times, the Atlantic, the Washington Post, Salon, Fast Company, ProPublica and Newsweek. These partners will share the revenue earned from contextually relevant ads. This gives publishers an opportunity to introduce new readers to their content. It also tests our theory that being able to read articles faster means people will read more of them, driving more ad revenue to publishers.
The publishing industry faces many challenges today, and there is no magic bullet. Google believes that encouraging readers to read more news is a necessary part of the solution. Fast Flip could be one way to help, and its looking to find other ways to help as well in the near future.

Microsoft Bing upgrades with Visual Search Feature
Microsoft, armed with its Bing search engine, is stepping up its assault on Google with the introduction of a unique beta search and shopping tool called Visual Search. The Visual Search feature offers an alternative to lists of blue links that are often delivered by search engines when researching cars, cameras, or other topics. Visual Search was announced Monday by Yusuf Mehdi, a senior vice president at Microsoft, at Tech Crunch 50, a tech conference in San Francisco.

Maintain and Optimize your PC
Many people are really irritated with their PC’s performance. But it’s not the PC’s fault. It’s their fault. Had they maintained there PC from the start or even in the middle… they would have their PCs running great…sometimes even better than ones which are only a few months old. Don’t worry though. Here are some simple yet effective steps you can optimize your PC to its maximum.
To keep the computer efficiently we will use two of Windows Os Default utility tools namely:
A. Disk clean up
B. Disk Defragmenter
A. Disk clean up
First, we will clean up un-necessary cookies, invalid shortcuts, temporary files, error reports and log files etc. from the system.
For this we will use Disk clean up tool available at Windows Os systems by default in the following location:
Go to,
Go to,
- Start
- All Programs
- Accessories
- System Tools
- Select “Disk Cleanup”
Now, select the drive where your operating system or windows (98, Win-Me, Xp, Vista, Win-7) is loaded
Click “Ok“
Select (Tick) the types of files you want to clean or select them all
You will promoted to this message in the small dialog box that will popup
Are you sure you want to perform these actions?
Click on “Yes”
It will scan and clean the drive that you selected and it will then free Hard disk space.
This utility tool will clean up all the unnecessary files from the pc including the cookies of Internet Explorer.
B. Disk Defragmenter
Now we will enhance the pc performance more by using the Disk Defragmenter utility tool.
Disk Defragmenter is a system utility for analyzing local volumes and locating and consolidating fragmented files and folders. You can also defragment disks from a command line using the defrag command.
For this we will use Disk Defragmenter utility tool available at Windows Os systems by default in the following location:
Go to,
Go to,
- Start
- All Programs
- Accessories
- System Tools
- Select “Disk Defragmenter”
Now, select the drives where you have loaded your operating system or windows (98, Win-Me, Xp, Vista, Win-7).
Click on Analyze or directly click on the defragment
This process may tale a lot of time depending upon your ram, hard disk size and the amount of software you have installed
Once you finish the defragmentation process you will be provided a report of how much disk has been freed.
These are the basic steps you can follow but we recommend you to frequently scan your pc for viruses, Trojans and spy ware etc. with genuine Anti virus software and keep updating your widows with their automatic updates to get the latest security patches and fix.
And yes don’t cramp your hard disk with Hi-end games and software’s as the capacity of your graphics and your motherboard and processor may not be able take the load unless you meet the specifications.
Disclaimer:
This trick is advised to be used by the advanced users only for those who know Windows OS properly.
Try this at your own risk.
Go to,
- Start
- Click on Run
- Type in “msconfig" in the dialog box
- System Configuration Utility Widows will open
- Now go to the “start up” tab
- Here remove the unwanted background programs like eg. Nero etc.
- Click on “Ok” and give a restart to your pc
- After the Pc restarts a Windows will popup
We hope this trick works for you but if there’s a problem please contact your PC Administrator.
You can even use these utility tools like:
- C-Cleaner (freeware)
- Glary Utilities (freeware)
- Tune Up 2009 or newer versions (Shareware)

TinEye is a reverse image search engine
What is TinEye?
TinEye is a reverse image search engine. You can submit an image to TinEye to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions. TinEye is the first image search engine on the web to use image identification technology rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks. For some real TinEye search examples, check out our Cool Searches page.
How does TinEye work?
When you submit an image to be searched, TinEye creates a unique and compact digital signature or 'fingerprint' for it, then compares this fingerprint to every other image in our index to retrieve matches. TinEye can even find a partial fingerprint match.
TinEye does not typically find similar images (i.e. a different image with the same subject matter); it finds exact matches including those that have been cropped, edited or resized.
Why use TinEye?
There are many uses for TinEye, but here are a few:
Find out where an image came from, or get more information about it
Research or track the appearance of an image online
Find higher resolution versions of an image
Locate web pages that make use of an image you have created
Discover modified or edited versions of an image
Who created TinEye?
TinEye was created by Idée Inc. Idée develops advanced image identification and visual search software for photo wire agencies, stock photography firms, entertainment media companies and some of the world's leading imaging firms including Adobe Systems Inc.
You can experiment and play with various implementations of Idée's visual search technologies by checking out the Idée Lab!
New ‘Imhalal’ search engine
New ‘halal’ search engine
A new search engine, called ImHalal.com, filters out X-rated Web sites and other content that is “haraam” or forbidden by Islam.
The search technology developed by AZS Media Group, a Dutch Internet company, has a two-layer filter.
Adult sites are blocked outright while other topics that are less dicey, such as “drugs,” “beer” or “pork” are restricted but not as tightly.
Facebook Lite: Same Great Taste, Just Fewer Calories
This week, the popular social networking web site Facebook unveiled a second, more bare-bones version of its namesake called Facebook Lite.
Currently open to United States and India users only, Lite offers basic features like Photos and Events, but does not permit other applications like Chat, Notes and Groups. Other Lite changes include swapping the input box for “Write,” “Post Photos” and “Post Video” tabs and prominently highlighting “Events” in the main toolbar.
“Facebook Lite is designed to introduce people with low bandwidth and those interested in learning more about the site to some of the core features of Facebook, enabling people to share information with their friends quickly and efficiently,” said Facebook’s director of communications, Brandee Barker.
Its intended bandwidth purpose aside, some Facebook users may find the simpler, cleaner (not to mention faster) Lite layout a welcome alternative to the more cluttered design found on its sibling site.

Design your own MONOPOLY building competition Launches
The launch clock is ticking, and we still need some new mega structures – and that's where you come in.
We've enlisted Google's help to find three new MONOPOLY game pieces. You have the chance to have YOUR building design (and bearing YOUR name) included in the biggest game of MONOPOLY of all time.
Use Google SketchUp to design a 3D building, then upload your dream structure to the Google 3D Warehouse to enter it into the competition. You'll need to be at least 13 years old to participate, and you'll need to agree to these Terms and Conditions.
The deadline to submit is Sunday, September 27, 2009 at midnight, EST.
If global MONOPOLY fame and fortune isn't enough, you also have a chance to win a Google SketchUp Pro 7 license (US $495 value). Two runners-up will also have their models used in the online game of MONOPOLY City Streets.
Here's how it works:
1. Download Google SketchUp for free. SketchUp is available for both Windows and Macintosh computers.
2. Learn to build 3D models with SketchUp by watching video tutorials and related YouTube videos. Download and work through a few examples using these self-paced tutorials: Introduction to SketchUp, Starting a Drawing Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.
3. From SketchUp, choose "Share Model" and upload your 3D building to the Google 3D Warehouse (you must have a Google account to sign in).
4. In the upload window, add the tag "monopolycompetition09" and make sure that you've checked "Allow 3D Warehouse users to contact me about this model" so we can contact you if you win!
5. Within 48 hours, your model/entry will appear in the Competition Collection in the Google 3D Warehouse.
Technical Guidelines:
· Buildings can be any size and any shape
· Buildings must not have photo-textures; they must be painted with solid colors
· The file size limit is 2 MB
· The file format should be .SKP
A few quick tips:
1. Keep it simple. Or not. Our judges will be looking at ALL designs – simple and complex.
2. Go crazy. Remember, the MONOPOLY world is a brilliantly fun place. Make your building the same! Go wild and have oodles of fun doing it.
3. Upload as many designs as you want. The more you submit, the greater the chance of your design winning!
4. For some inspiration check out some sample creations already in the Google 3D Warehouse Competition Collection.
Key dates to remember:
Sunday 27 September 2009 midnight EST - Competition closes
Wednesday 30 September 2009 midnight EST - Our jury will select 3 building designs from the top rated designs and notify the winners. We will also need to verify eligibility requirements at this stage
Tuesday 6 October 2009 midnight EST - Winners will be announced
October 2009 - The winners’ buildings become part of a global game of MONOPOLY
Enjoy!

Host a party, get Windows 7 free
As reported over on TechRadar, Microsoft is hoping to boost interest in its next-generation operating system by offering the chance to get free limited Signature Editions of the top-end Windows 7 Ultimate OS - by hosting launch day parties.
If you're willing to risk alienating a bunch of your friends, you can apply host a party between the 22nd and 29th of October to be in with a chance of getting both the Windows 7 Ultimate Signature Edition plus "your very own Windows 7 Party Pack."
Microsoft has very kindly provided a choice of thrilling themes for your party: Media Mania, Setting up with Ease, Family Friendly Fun, and - seriously - "PhotoPalooza." Once you've chosen your theme, you'll receive assistance from "House Party, the world's leading party organizer" and have the opportunity to "upload photos and videos, chat with other hosts, blog your experience, and download fun favours all from your personal House Party page."
While it's certainly a fairly cheap way of getting your hands on the next version of Windows, it remains to be seen just how much fun you could have with a theme of "Setting up with Ease." Rumours of a "take a shot for each exclamation mark in Device Manager" are, as far as can be seen, totally untrue.
