Extracting audio from video

The Solution:
Go to the following link : http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/soundforge

Here download the trial version of Sony Sound forge.

Now, Install It! Then Import or drag and drop the video in the software You will get a audio graph and video on the top

Now Click on the audio graph and right click on it

Click on Properties

Click On Video

and now click on Detach and click ok

Now only the audio graph will remain

Now,Click on File ;Save As' You have to click on the save as option or you overwrite on the video file.Hence it will become a audio file.

Give the desired location/destination and click on save

In Sony Sound forge you can even add effects and reprocess the audio or enhance the audio quality or even change the sounds of a video as it is basically an audio editing software. But It does not have multi layered audio editing features for multi editing there are other software's like Sony Acid Pro,Adobe Audition,Audacity, and many more to name.

You can also use software like Mpeg Streamclip (Win/Mac)

Sony Product's Microsoft Net frame .exe File Location

When you install a Sony Product in Xp in between the process of installation it asks you to Download "Microsoft Net frame" 2;3 or other version but it does not ask to where the .exe file would be saved so it get's downloaded in an undisclosed location so when you reinstall your Xp to refresh your Pc you lose this files so again you have to download the Net Frame file while installation. If you still use Dial Up Internet Connection it takes about a hour to download so keep a back up of so that you don't need to download the same file again & again.

Sony Product's Microsoft Net frame .exe File Location :
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data

Now go to folder "Sony Setup" Copy paste in another Hard Drive like Pen Drives or Compact Disks that's Cd.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 Can’t Open Animated GIF Properly Solution

The Warning Dialog Box

Well It was few months back, when I started using Adobe Photo-shop CS3 the new version from adobe but never realized that the adobe company forgot to add editing feature of animated gif files. They had combined/bundled the features of Adobe Image Ready with Photo-shop.When I was working on web designing in which I was editing some images which I wanted to be saved as gif file then I realized this problem .So I searched the web and found a solution it might look simple but it may be tricky for some people.

Screen Shot of Adobe Discussion Forum started since May 2007

Adobe's solution is to use other Adobe products, which is Fireworks, to open an animated GIF profile properly. It appears that the feature is purposely lost and the development of Image ready is no longer continued. Most of the feature not included in Photoshop from Image ready is incorporated in Fireworks. Some people might found this as no problem at all, but, this will reduce efficiency and comfortableness in editing an animated GIF. Where else can we edit an animated GIF with outstanding filters and image effect like Photoshop? It’s a waste of time to edit each frame one by one from Fireworks to Photo-shop. However, there is still a solution to this, as mentioned by Brett Dalton, a member of the forum. Photo-shop can still open the file correctly from the Import menu, however, its only applicable to Windows OS only.

Steps to be followed

Choose File > Import > Video Frames to Layers

In the file browser in Windows, type *.* in the File Name and press Enter or click Load.
It will not open any file, but it will view every file without restriction of Type of Files.
Open your animated GIF files, it will show you a dialog box regarding the imports. Press OK to import as default.
Voila! The file is opened in animation frames.
You can view the animation time frames from Windows > Animation
Photo-shop CS3 won’t even open import videos windows without Quick Time version 7.1 or above installed in your computer.
You should download it first from apple site or you can get it from the latest k-lite codec package.
How about MAC? MAC can’t do like the above solution by typing *.* in the file name. But here is an alternative:
Change the animated GIF file you want to open into .MOV file. Therefore the Import Video Frames to Layers function will recognize it as a video file and will open it as animated sequence.
However, this method won’t always works and the quality of the file is questionable.

The conclusion is: either you use Fireworks as GIF editor or using Photoshop’s import Video to Layers feature. Just don’t waste your time on some trivia stuff like this. It’s too immaterial for a busy designer.

Chroma effect

An actor behind a green screen and the final result with 4 others different layers.

What is Chroma effect ?

  • Chroma key is used to select a color or range of colors to give the video clip a transparency.

There are several approaches to give Chroma effect to your video :

First of all you need to have a video or need to film your actor or the subject behind a screen. This can be achieved by using a Blue,Green Or White, etc. background. The color of the screen should not match the color of the actor or subjects like the clothes or any.

The software to
achieve chroma you have to use the following multilayer video editing software or any other which supports multilayer:

  1. Adobe Premier Pro
  2. Sony Vegas Pro
  3. Ulead
  4. Avid Express
Apple/Mac Users

  1. Apple Final Cut Pro
  2. Apple I Movie
Open any multilayer video editing suite.

On the
first layer add the background video that you want behind your subject (Eg. Image,3d animation,etc.).

On the second layer on the top of the first layer add the second video which contains
the subject which has a static background and then add the chroma effect on the second layer.

If you don't have a video which does not have a static background.
Then use composting software's like
Adobe After effects,
Combustion, etc.

You have to work frame by frame and believe me is a hard work.It will take lots of time just to edit a one minute clip which may also take several days to remove the background or unwanted stuff.

*Note*
The Basic are same but the way of applying video effects- VFX varies from software to software.

Linear vs Non Linear Editing

Screen Shot

In the early days of electronic video production, linear (tape-to-tape) editing was the only way to edit video tapes. Then, in the 1990s, non-linear editing computers became available and opened a whole new world of editing power and flexibility.
Non-linear editing was not welcomed by everyone and many editors resisted the new wave. In addition, early digital video was plagued with performance issues and uncertainty. However, the advantages of non-linear video eventually became so overwhelming that they could not be ignored.
In the 21st Century non-linear editing is king and linear editing is widely considered to be obsolete, or at least primitive. This is an understandable attitude considering the advantages of non-linear editing, but we urge you not to be too judgemental. Linear editing still has some advantages:
  1. It is simple and inexpensive. There are very few complications with formats, hardware conflicts, etc.
  2. For some jobs linear editing is better. For example, if all you want to do is add two sections of video together, it is a lot quicker and easier to edit tape-to-tape than to capture and edit on a hard drive.
  3. Learning linear editing skills increases your knowledge base and versatility. According to many professional editors, those who learn linear editing first tend to become better all-round editors.
Although the "linear vs non-linear" argument is often subjective and some editors will disagree with the statements above, there can be little doubt that increasing your skill base is a good thing. There is nothing to be gained by completely rejecting linear editing, and much to be gained by adding it to your repertoire.

*linear editing - you edit by cutting and pasting the film positives.
*non linear - you capture the footage and edit using a software.
